Successful partnership between ENGIE Deutschland and Milupa: five years of energy for baby food

It has been around five years since Milupa opened an additional plant at the Fulda site to produce dry powder for infant nutrition and medical food. ENGIE Deutschland has been on board as a partner from the start: initially during the construction of the production site in a joint venture (ARGE) with Ed.Züblin AG, where the ENGIE experts were responsible for mechanical and electrical supply systems as well as for building automation. In addition, the leading specialist for technology, energy and service set up the energy center for the plant and has since been responsible for its operation as part of an energy supply contracting arrangement. "Milupa is a special project for ENGIE Deutschland: We are delighted that we have been managing the Fulda site since day one and that we are able to use our expertise in technology, energy and service for Milupa," says Norbert Speckmann, Head of the Energy &Facility Solutions business unit at ENGIE Deutschland. The energy supply contracting runs over a total period of ten years.

Maximum service level for the Milupa plant

On site, a five-member service team from ENGIE Deutschland is deployed daily and ensures the smooth operation of the energy center and the control of the associated generation systems. The media supply of the Milupa plant includes electricity, gas, heat and steam, hot, ice, cold, process and extinguishing water as well as compressed air and nitrogen. In addition, ENGIE specialists are responsible for the pre-treatment of production wastewater in a specially constructed wastewater plant. The focus of the work is on monitoring the generation plants, eliminating faults and carrying out inspections, maintenance and repairs, including the related documentation. In addition, two facility technicians from Facility Services look after the technical building systems in the production building, from the ventilation and fire alarm systems to the sprinkler and building control systems. In short: ENGIE Deutschland offers Milupa a comprehensive service package – to the full satisfaction of the customer. "The production of special food for babies, toddlers and special medical requirements places very high demands on the technical infrastructure and the energy supply. We at ENGIE Deutschland have many years of experience in demanding environments and thus ensure compliance with the highest quality and safety standards – for Milupa as well as for our other customers," emphasizes Norbert Speckmann. In addition to food production, ENGIE Deutschland is active in other sensitive production areas. These include, for example, chemical and pharmaceutical production, laboratories and clean rooms as well as industrial production.
