Photovoltaic systems for Stadtbau Regensburg: Solarimo implements green tenant power project

06 June 2023
  • Solarimo takes over the planning and construction of modern photovoltaic systems as well as the marketing of green electricity for Stadtbau Regensburg

  • Thanks to the future-proof energy supply, the municipal housing association saves around 150 tons of CO2 emissions per year

Berlin - The building sector is considered a decisive driver for the energy transition. On the way to climate neutrality, the use of renewable energies in particular offers enormous potential. Stadtbau GmbH Regensburg has recognized this and has therefore decided to use photovoltaic systems to generate electricity for nine of its own buildings. For the implementation of the project, the municipal housing company relies on the expertise of Solarimo GmbH, a subsidiary of ENGIE Germany. Solarimo is responsible for the planning and construction of the photovoltaic systems and also markets the electricity to the tenants in the buildings. In total, the photovoltaic systems generate more than 300 megawatt hours of electricity per year and thus enable a reliable and climate-friendly supply of electricity for the residents - and they are completely self-sufficient. Anja Burde, Managing Director of Solarimo, explains:

"The new photovoltaic systems offer sustainable added value not only for the environment, but also for the tenants at Stadtbau Regensburg: they save valuable costs compared to a local basic supplier and at the same time make themselves independent of the availability of fossil resources."

Achieving climate neutrality with green energy

Stadtbau Regensburg also benefits from the sustainable supply model in the long term. Jonas Lang from the New Construction and Major Modernization division emphasizes, "Thanks to the photovoltaic systems, we are reducing our CO2 emissions by 150 tons per year, which brings us a lot closer to our sustainability goals. We are glad to have Solarimo as a competent partner on our side on the way to climate neutrality." By 2035, all municipal companies in Regensburg are to be completely climate neutral. Stadtbau Regensburg is setting a good example thanks to its cooperation with Solarimo.

Solarimo and Stadtbau Regensburg are driving the energy turnaround with a green tenant electricity project.
