Frankfurt/Cologne - Mainova and ENGIE have concluded several Power Purchase Agreements at once. In doing so, Mainova has secured a total supply volume of around 140 gigawatt hours for its customers for 2023 and 2024. ENGIE will supply Mainova with renewable electricity from nine German wind farms that no longer receive support under the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG). The wind farms will thus remain available for the energy turnaround after the expiration of EEG subsidies.
"Thanks to the Power Purchase Agreements with ENGIE, we are expanding our trading portfolio of climate-neutral electricity. This enables us to meet the increasing demand for green power from German generation plants. In this way, we support our customers in achieving their sustainability goals," says Harald Herzig, Head of Energy Procurement and Trading at Mainova.
Jörg Nauerth, Senior Originator at ENGIE Energy Management Solutions, adds, "We have been working with Mainova for many years and are pleased that we are now expanding our partnership in the area of PPAs." ENGIE is one of the leading PPA providers worldwide and one of the top three portfolio owners of post-EEG plants with a volume of more than two terawatt hours.
