Cologne - Electromobility is considered a key driver for the success of the energy transition - and a must-have for sustainable companies. That is why thyssenkrupp AG, an internationally successful industrial and technology group, is relying on a charging infrastructure for electromobility at its headquarters in Essen. ENGIE Deutschland, one of Europe's leading operators of charging solutions and a specialist in technology, energy and service, is responsible for the planning, installation and operation of 157 dual charging stations. Tailored to the customer's needs, 280 charging points in the parking garage and 34 charging points in the underground garage will guarantee green mobility in the thyssenkrupp Quarter in future. Kai Hundsdörfer, Branch Manager Facility Solutions Essen at ENGIE Deutschland, emphasizes: "With the modern charging infrastructure, thyssenkrupp is securing location advantages and helping to save mobility costs in the long term. The company is already investing in the future in several ways." The double wall boxes and several energy and network distributors were installed and commissioned in the underground car park of the thyssenkrupp headquarter at the beginning of 2024. In the multi-storey parking garage 200 meters away, the ENGIE Deutschland team of experts is currently installing 650 meters of busbars in addition to the double wall boxes. Two compact transformer stations feed green energy into the wired busbar, which is divided into nine sections. Dynamic load management intelligently regulates the system output. The charging infrastructure in the multi-storey parking lot is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2024.
Thanks to the e-buddie full-service concept, thyssenkrupp not only receives a ready-made charging infrastructure solution, but also benefits from the operational management of the charging stations by ENGIE Deutschland's specialists. The included services include the operation and management of the individual charging points and users in the backend, the billing of charging processes and the provision of a consumption and charging overview of private charging processes for efficient company car billing. In addition, the technical, energy and service experts offer 24/7 first-level telephone support for users. The ENGIE team is also responsible for troubleshooting and repairing the systems on site. Christian Büter, Head of Digital Solutions & Electromobility at ENGIE Germany, summarizes: "Our concept combines the site conditions and individual requirements of our customer with efficient and advanced technology."
