ENGIE Germany secures facility management at ten Berlin police locations

21 January 2020
  • ENGIE Germany will be responsible for facility management in 61 Berlin police buildings for its new customer, Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH (BIM)

  • The contract runs for five years and includes the management of the plant and the technical facility management at ten locations with a gross floor area of around 200,000 square meters

Cologne, January 21, 2020 - ENGIE Deutschland GmbH has once again convinced a customer of the merit of its solutions and services: Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH (BIM) has commissioned the leading technical, energy and service specialist with the facility management for several police properties in the German capital. As a real estate service provider for the Land of Berlin, BIM is responsible for over 5,000 state-owned properties. Starting immediately, it also relies on the expertise of ENGIE Germany: Since December 2019 and over a period of five years, ENGIE Germany has been responsible for the operational management and technical facility management at ten locations with a total of 61 buildings and a gross floor area of almost 200,000 square meters in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, Spandau and Grunewald. These are facilities belonging to the Berlin police, including the police academy Charlottenburger Chaussee 67 in Spandau. The academy alone comprises 25 houses with up to eight stories each on a gross floor area of around 70,000 square meters, including two sports buildings, two shooting ranges, a canteen and large exercise areas in the rear area with a high proportion of woodland. "Services and technical services have long been a core competence of ENGIE Germany. We are looking forward to using our expertise in the Berlin police buildings from now on," says Rolf Paulick, Head of Sales at the ENGIE branch in Berlin. "Personally, I am convinced that we will increase the efficiency of the processes within a short time. In our view, a first operational highlight during the implementation process is the programming of a customer-specific solution via a database system." Here, an interface was created that enables ENGIE technicians to carry out the technical plant survey; also offline with subsequent upload to a SharePoint. The systemic framework conditions of the customer CAFM system were taken into account. The use of a data robot to transfer the data, as well as the use of an app developed specifically for this project to document the condition of the plant and automatically assign it to the plant survey, completes the overall picture.

Management and technical FM
In September 2019, the ENGIE Germany team started the inspection and handover of the properties. The mass and defect testing and the inclusion of inventory data in the ENGIE database are currently in full swing; This will be completed in the first quarter of 2020. In addition, regular operation started on December 1, 2019. This covers facility management, i.e., among other things, complete property management, updating and maintenance of service specifications, monitoring and control services for infrastructural services, and claim management. ENGIE Germany also takes care of technical facility management - from property operation to continuous maintenance and energy management.

ENGIE stands for customer proximity
For the operational tasks on site, a multi-member team is deployed daily, which receives direct support from the ENGIE specialists from the Berlin branch if required. The corresponding service portfolio ranges from emergency call readiness to fire protection management and the provision of the required IT tools. For this reason, Paulick sees the proximity to the ENGIE branch as a decisive advantage for the customer: "Our on-site presence and the nearby back office ensure that all customer needs can be met quickly. This is our highest priority at ENGIE Germany," emphasizes the sales manager. "With immediate effect, we assure the Berlin police buildings that all processes in and around the building are running optimally."

Starting immediately, ENGIE Deutschland is responsible for facility management for Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH (BIM) in 61 Berlin police buildings with a total gross floor area of around 200,000 square meters.
