ENGIE Germany donates 250,000 euros to the Deutschland Hilft campaign
Service teams support colleagues and customers in the affected counties
This aid is getting to where it is needed most at the moment: ENGIE Germany has donated 250,000 euros to the Deutschland Hilft campaign; the alliance of renowned German aid organizations is providing emergency aid to people affected by the flood disaster. Manfred Schmitz, CEO of the Cologne-based specialist for technology, energy and service, says: "As a local company, we at ENGIE see it as our social duty to help in this situation. Among our employees and customers, we have many people affected, so we experience the extent of the disaster first hand. I would like to express my deepest sympathy to all the people in the flooded areas and hope that with our donation we can make a small difference in paving the way back to a normal life."
In addition to the financial donation, ENGIE Germany is providing technical support on site: Since last week, numerous service technicians have been helping colleagues and their families to repair the flood damage. All employees who are either affected themselves or wish to support relatives and friends in the disaster areas will receive special paid leave. ENGIE teams are also working for customers in Wuppertal, Aachen and Erftstadt. The commitment is long-term, because the clean-up work will take many months, as Manfred Schmitz emphasizes: "As ENGIE Germany, we have each sent a letter to Malu Dreyer, Minister President of Rhineland-Palatinate, and to Armin Laschet, Minister President of North Rhine-Westphalia, to offer our support in rebuilding technical infrastructures - especially in schools and other public buildings. Our employees will bring their expertise and experience to bear wherever we can make a contribution so that together we can overcome this disaster."
