Efficiency, security of supply and renewable energies - these are topics that have never been as explosive as they are today in view of failing Russian gas supplies and the second warning stage in the gas emergency plan proclaimed by our Minister of Economics. Against this background, we discussed renewable energies, hydrogen and Real Zero at E-world energy & water 2022 from June 21 to 23. The ENGIE group presented innovative concepts that strike a chord with the times and enable our society and economy to rapidly move away from fossil fuels. For those who missed us at the show or couldn't make it to E-world, read the summary of the event here.
It was terrific to finally be back with a presence at the trade fair for the energy and water industry after a two-year break due to the pandemic. At our booth, trade fair visitors were able to find out about sophisticated decarbonization solutions, exchange technical information and learn how ENGIE is helping municipalities as well as industrial, commercial and real estate companies to achieve a sustainable future.
Under the motto "It's time for Real Zero!", we have placed the focus on energy efficiency and the five steps to climate neutrality at our marketplace. In discussions with our experts, trade show visitors learned how Zero Carbon Transition as a Service works successfully in practice and in line with their needs. On the basis of various reference projects - including our projects with Quartierswerk Gartenfeld or Ritter Sport - we showed how a Real Zero master plan succeeds.
Under the ENGIE umbrella, the group's combined expertise was represented at the booth - including the offerings of Storengy and Tractebel Engineering. In the Market Place at the booth, we used concrete projects, tools and best-practice cases to show the paths toward Real Zero.
Hydrogen as the key to the energy transition? Absolutely! At our booth, interested visitors were given deeper insights into the opportunities, but also the challenges of this new technology, illustrated by concrete projects:
The trade fair stand also focused on the entire renewable energy value chain, which ENGIE fully covers - from the planning, construction and operation of wind power and solar plants to marketing. In the process, we also informed trade fair visitors about our services in terms of investments in renewable energies and showed what is important in the marketing of green energy, certificates and power purchase agreements (PPAs).
Last but not least, our employees gave a preview of promising future technologies in smart and connected cities. Among other things, there was a modular and smart street light to admire, which we set up at the booth. It saves energy, serves as a support for sensors and information boards, and can even carry a wind turbine. Our colleague Christoph Oehms also presented what can be achieved with smart lighting at the Infrastructure Forum.
Also present were our colleagues from ENGIE Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS). By the way, GEMS is again leading the Energy Risk Commodity Rankings in 2022. Various professional applications for energy trading were presented, including the OTC trading platform EGMA and the management tool EnergyScan. The topic of PPAs and the various ways in which they can be designed also attracted a great deal of interest. In the Trading Forum directly adjacent to our booth, our PPA expert Sarah Drevermann presented the topic "Up to 100% green energy - physically and 24/7 all year round".
A full trade fair stand, countless intensive discussions and many new ideas in exciting times - we chalk up our trade fair appearance at E-world as a complete success. With new energy, we now start into the next weeks and months, which will certainly not be easy for the energy industry.
And we are already looking forward to next year's E-world. In addition we can betray: As energy pioneers, we at ENGIE will not stand still on the mission Real Zero. Next year, we will again present many groundbreaking projects and solutions for the energy industry. Be curious!
